Since the only thing it does is run through a function called "volume", everything that was on your disc remains on your disc. In fact, it does not touch your disc at all. To help prevent data from being recovered, SHREDDAGE does not overwrite or erase any files. After you put your disc in, it could be months before it gets to you depending on where you live. With each pass that is made over your disk, more bits are changed however exponentially fewer errors occur. While overwriting your data with random bits and bytes does not increase the amount of bit errors that can be recovered, using the shred command has other negative side effects. This means that if you accidentally share something you want to keep hidden online, SHREDDAGE runs the risk of someone finding out where it’s located. Not all your data is gone though, other users can still view the files that are being shared via torrents.

Because I must watch movies and TV shows in small amounts of time, then quickly delete them afterward, I have resorted to using the SHREDDAGE extension for my browser that will automatically delete stuff when you are done with it.
